Ovarian Energy & Manifestation – Reclaiming Our Creative Fire
I find the subject of our ovarian creative energy absolutely fascinating. It’s not just about reproduction; it’s about the very life-force we use to create and manifest everything in our world. How we care for and direct this energy has a profound effect on our overall health, our radiance, and our vitality.
Our ovarian energy is our creative fire. It’s the energetic source we use for making babies, yes, but also for breathing life into any creation we choose to bring into the world—a business, a piece of art, a home, a community project. The ovaries nourish the female body, and their health, on an energetic level, determines a woman’s overall wellbeing.
A lot of what I’m sharing here, I learned from a wonderful book by Tami Lynn Kent, a holistic pelvic bodyworker, called “Wild Feminine: Finding Power, Spirit & Joy in the Female Body.” It’s an awesome book and well worth adding to your library.
Tami Lynn describes the ovaries as being like our best girlfriends. She says that when we focus on the power of our ovaries, we discover an energy similar to the one created when women talk joyfully together. I love this! That is such a happy, nourishing space for me. I deeply treasure the relationships I have with my closest girlfriends—they are incredibly precious and sacred and have had a huge bearing on how I’ve learned and grown as a woman.
This creative power is tangible, and because of that, sometimes other people may try to harness a woman’s creative fire, directing it towards their own needs. It is always up to us whether we allow this to happen, or whether we willingly give our power away. The latter often happens when we exchange it for the promise of security or acceptance—a sure-fire sign that we don’t fully appreciate how valuable and powerful our ovarian energy truly is. This creative power is meant solely for our own use—never for anyone else’s.
Reclaiming Our Fire Energy
So, how do we reclaim this energy if we’ve lost touch with it? It starts with reflection and taking conscious charge of our own creativity.
Assess
Take a quiet moment and ask yourself:
-
How are you currently using your creative energy?
-
Does it reflect your true feminine self?
-
What is the unique contribution of your heartfelt creations? How do they serve a purpose in your life and in sustaining the collective feminine nature?
Ritual
Now, let’s ignite that intention with a simple ritual.
-
Write down 3 creative sparks—whatever dreams your wild feminine nature has for your creations in this world.
-
Next to each, write down one action that enlivens it and moves you closer to making it manifest.
-
To finish, light a candle to symbolise your ovarian fire. Set the intention to ignite your creative flames and tend to them lovingly.
Tending the Fire Of Our Ovaries
The ovaries have a limitless potential for creation. A woman with balanced ovarian energy will have an abundance of creative fuel for her projects while still being able to nourish herself. Her creations will be in alignment with her personal vision, and she will find real joy in bringing them to life. She remains centred, satisfied, and radiates vitality.
This is definitely a vision I aspire to—though I’m not quite there yet! It often comes down to priorities. We need to put the horse before the cart and realise that giving from an empty cup isn’t sustainable. Setting aside just 20-30 minutes, even once a week, to replenish this energy is doable for most of us, and the rewards are SO worth it.
Our two ovaries work synergistically. The left ovary holds the receptive fuel for our creations, while the right ovary holds the projective power. They alternately recharge and reveal our creative expression, but they can only nourish and inspire us when they are in balance.
Imbalances occur when the energy flow is too low (becoming stagnant) or too high (becoming depleted). A steady, balanced flow means the energy is both moved and replenished. And it’s important to note: this is all happening on an energetic level. Even if one or both ovaries have been physically removed, the energy centre associated with each can still be cultivated.
When we overuse or block this energy, it impacts our pelvic health and general vitality, which can lead to stagnation, disease, or dysfunction.
It’s worth asking ourselves: How are we tending our ovarian fire?
Are we adding fuel to it, or are we headed for burnout? Are we sitting by and enjoying the fires we create—receiving their warmth and nourishment? Or are we always in a hurry, rushing onto the next project?
I can totally recognise my own tendency to rush from one completed project (crossed off my To-Do list with such satisfaction!) straight to the next. Being mindful to sit in quiet contemplation and reflect on the creations I’ve already brought into the world is something I really try to remember to do.
This mindfulness can extend to our daily errands and appointments, too. Learning to bring our full presence to all that we do, and giving thanks for the simple ability to move and experience life, helps us acknowledge the life-force energy that makes it all possible. Seeing our busyness as a blessing and a choice, rather than a curse, allows us to get the most out of this energy.
When we blindly rush, we risk depleting our ovarian power instead of appreciating and replenishing it. I’ve experienced this myself in the form of ovarian pain and cysts—particularly in my right ovary, which connects to our projective, “masculine” energy.
Sensing Our Ovaries
Each ovary is only about the size of a walnut and sits deep in the body, so sensing them can be challenging. Here’s a simple way to locate them energetically:
Create a triangle with your forefingers and thumbs. Place your forefingers just above your clitoris and then lay your hands flat against your body. The juncture where your forefingers and thumbs meet your hands is roughly where you’ll find your ovaries when you place your hands flat on your lower belly.
With your hands in place, take a moment to just connect.
Here is a meditation to help you get in touch with your ovaries and sense what might be going on with them.
-
Settle In: Sit comfortably. Take a few deep breaths and place your hands on your lower belly, over your ovaries.
-
Focus on the Left: Bring your focus to your left ovary. Can you visualise it or sense it with your inner awareness? What do you notice? Is the energy hot or cool? Tight or soft? Can you feel where it begins and ends? Do any colours or images come to you? Now, shift your weight to your left butt cheek. Does the energy feel strong? Do you feel connected and fully inhabiting this side? Or does it feel weak, fragile, and difficult to connect with?
-
Focus on the Right: Now, shift your attention to your right ovary. Feel and visualise its energy. How does it compare to the left? Hot or cool? Tight or soft? Where does it begin and end? Any colours or images? Shift your weight to your right butt cheek. Does this ovary feel strong and accessible, or weak and difficult to connect with?
-
Notice the Difference: Observe the differences between your two ovaries. Left and right ovaries have different energetic qualities, so some difference is expected. But a significant difference in the fullness, warmth, or sensation can alert you to an imbalance.
-
Ponder Potential: Take a moment to appreciate the vast creative resources held in these small organs. Imagine yourself accessing the full radiance and warmth of each ovary.
-
Close with Gratitude: Gently bring your visualisation to a close. Offer sincere gratitude to your ovaries, the source of your creative fire.
