Living with parasites seems to be part and parcel of being in a human body. And, whilst these parasites are in relative balance – ie they aren’t running the show (at least not completely!) – then all is well. But to make sure that that balance doesn’t flip, I believe it can be really useful to do a regular parasite cleanse. I acknowledge that not everybody shares this point of view, however – some people believe we should leave parasites alone entirely, as when we try to mess with them, they just come back even more resilient than ever. They certainly are highly intelligent beings, that’s for sure!
Best Defence = Create A Hostile Environment
My take on how to handle them is to not necessarily go after them outright (unless you have an acute parasitic issue – as I did when I discovered I had bilharzia in my bladder – NOT fun, let me tell you – and I did declare war!) – but instead to create an environment that they really don’t enjoy living in. In other words, remove the built-up mucus layers inside the intestines and the parasites will generally leave of their own accord. These same mucus layers can also build up inside the vagina and womb, however – and are not immune to parasitic visitors either, as I learned recently in this podcast chat between Quiddit Ashé and Daniella Morales.
Parasites can be picked up from anywhere… walking barefoot on the beach, ingested via food and drink, or even kissing animals – all things that make life worth living in my opinion! And so, realising that I’m never going to stop myself from picking parasites up, I would rather make their chosen living environment to be as inhospitable as possible instead. The most common parasites to be found in the womb and vagina tend to be flukes, but pinworms have been found too and, as I say, these parasites live in the mucus layers that can build up when the circulation to our pelvic bowl is compromised . Common symptoms of uterine or vaginal parasites are itching of the anal or vaginal area, insomnia, irritability, teeth grinding and a general feeling of restlessness/unease. Occasional stomach pain and nausea could also be experienced.
Steam – A Force To Be Reckoned With
When built-up uterine or vaginal mucus is causing problems, yoni steaming really comes into its own. The reason it is so incredibly effective is mainly down to the power of steam itself. Steam literally “melts” away built-up or hardened mucus (it can even melt hardened scar tissue too) and, in doing so, removes the kind of environment needed for parasites to set up home and flourish within the womb and vagina. At the same time, steaming removes the same mucus that harbours toxins, heavy metals, candida, mould, yeast, and viruses – including HPV and herpes, clearing up chronic yeast and bacterial infections and viral outbreaks as it does so. You can add anti-parasitic herbs to your regular steam blend in order to deliver a double whammy if you would like to, but keep the use of these fairly light – anti-parasitic herbs are generally super potent.
Systemic Organ Cleansing
Naturally, however, we also want to focus on making the rest of the body as inhospitable to parasites as possible too – and this can be done via a combination of colon cleansing, liver cleansing, kidney cleansing and skin brushing/rebounding (both of which keep our detox-removing lymphatic system in good shape). This also ensures that our detox pathways are kept clear – giving an effective route for the parasites to leave the body. Then, following on from that, keeping our body oxygenated and alkalised will also help remove these unwanted guests and keep them from wanting to stick around in future. When they get out of balance, these parasites can cause havoc on a grand scale – which is definitely not a situation we ever want to get ourselves into.
Suggestions for colon cleanses to follow would be Blessed Herbs or R’vive (South African version of Blessed Herbs). And for a liver cleanse, Hulda Clark’s epsom salt cleanse is super-effective. Cleansing as the seasons change (eg winter into spring or summer into autumn – ie symbolising new beginnings or letting go) can be a good regular rhythm to keep. Some people believe that cleansing over full moon gives a more powerful detox when it comes to parasites and detoxing in general. I personally haven’t paid enough attention as to when during the month I have done my cleanses, so I can’t really comment either way – but if that resonates with you, then you might like to plan your cleanse accordingly. Working with the seasons of your menstrual cycle is another way you might like to approach this.
What Are You Ready To Release?
In addition, cleansing does, of course, go much deeper than just the physical side of it. Setting our intention both physically and emotionally before we begin will make any cleanse that much more powerful and effective – and it can be a great idea to close a cleanse with a gratitude and/or closure ritual of some kind too. On the emotional side of things, before we start any cleanse, it is really worth giving some thought to what we are ready to let go of at this time. Releasing outdated emotions, beliefs, past relationships or sexual trauma goes beautifully with a yoni steaming cleanse – which is why I include a guided Yoni Steaming Clearing Meditation in my online Yoni Vitality Programme. The energy of any past toxic intimate relationships/sexual trauma can be considered to be “parasitic” too as it feeds off your negative attachment to such events. Which not only keeps you stuck, but also weakens your life-force/sexual energy at the same time.
One final word on yoni steaming and parasites – and that is, that any steaming blend will work for this purpose, so just choose the one best suited to you and your personal needs. The steaming protocol will vary from woman to woman – and, whilst many women can handle longer steaming sessions or protocols, for others this can be detrimental. So sticking to steaming once a week (but never whilst you are bleeding) if you have no other issues you wish to address is a good rule of thumb – or, if other issues are presenting themselves, then it is always best to check in with a yoni steaming practitioner for guidance first.
Happy Cleansing!

Body reconnection is one of my needs but my pressing problem is uterine fibroids and I have just recently learnt that they have grown. Is there a Yoni combination particularly for this problem?
Hi Gugu, thanks for getting in touch. For uterine fibroids, I would recommend 2 things. The first would be a combination of yoni steaming and yoni pearls for a deep womb detox – please see https://www.yonieggs.co.za/yoni-pearls for full details. Alongside this, I would recommend an intensive daily steaming programme, using the right herb blend according to your cycle length – please see https://www.yonieggs.co.za/yoni-steaming for details of the different blends. You will usually need to steam daily for 2-3 months to get rid of fibroids. I would also recommend going to see a Traditional Chinese Medicine doctor for acupuncture and herbal remedies to take at the same time. This will restore communication between the organs in your body and rebalance your hormones as it does so. With an issue like fibroids, having a multi-pronged healing approach is recommended. Here are some other useful links giving holistic nutrition and lifestyle advice that will also support you on your healing journey:-

Hi! I’m currently detoxing from the same parasites you listed within my uterus, biliharzia. I came across your page and I’ve been trying to find more ways to get these things out( while I detox with my practitioner) but, I’m wondering how would I do yoni steaming if I’m still on and off bleeding from the parasites? They cause me prolonged bleeding, and passing them has been crazy. Definitely any information would be so helpful for me!
Hi Gianna, thanks for getting in touch – and sorry to take so long to get back to you, only saw your message now. I have actually had bilharzia parasites in my bladder and when I consulted a functional doctor friend of mine, she immediately suggested I go the pharmaceutical route rather than try to detox these parasites naturally – as both her and I would normally choose to do. Reason being, that when parasites are affecting our organs in the way that they were affecting mine (I had been radically uncomfortable for months – felt like I had a bladder infection that just wouldn’t go away!) – and in the way they are clearly affecting your uterus too – then the situation is not something to play around with. This is the type of situation where pharmaceutical drugs can be super helpful – bringing a decisive stop to a dangerous situation before it does irreversible harm, following which we can then build ourselves up again using the natural means of our choice (in other words – use pharmaceutical drugs in emergency situations and for short periods of time only, then follow with usual holistic healing practices on top of these). The drug she prescribed for me was praziquante – and the dose was 20 mg/kg bodyweight three times a day as a one day treatment, at intervals of not less than 4 hours and not more than 6 hours. If symptoms repeat, then this treatment can be repeated after 2 months. I can’t recommend you do any yoni steaming if there is fresh red blood of any kind as steaming is a womb cleanse that could exacerbate the bleeding which is obviously dangerous. However, once you have had a month of not bleeding, then steaming 1-3 times per week (never when you have your period – for the same reason as above) can really help to heal and break down any scarring that may be left behind by the parasites. Another thing that can help is to take proteolytic enzymes (which you can do immediately from the day after you have taken the meds) – which also help to prevent scar tissue from forming/break down any that may have formed so far. Also, doing a nightly sitz bath or full bath (or even up to 3 times per day) with chlorine dioxide/MMS can also really assist in relieving pain, discomfort and inflammation from bladder/womb infections of all kinds, including those of a parasitic infection – https://alivenhealthy.com/2021/12/31/jim-humbles-bath-and-footbath-protocols-supporting-mms1-and-mms2-protocols/ I really hope this info is helpful to you – and wish you all the best for your healing journey. Much love xx
